Read played two seasons on UNH's club team, and was captain of his team as a senior. He graduated cum laude in kinesiology and exercise science. He then served two years as an assistant coach, helping guide the women's team to a pair of conference tournament titles. Read was a graduate assistant for two seasons at UConn while he worked on a master's degree in sport management and sociology. In August 2006 he was named head coach at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass.
